A Data-Driven Roadmap to Net Zero Aligned with its pledge to achieve Net Zero by 2040, Hwahsia Glass has committed to a verified reduction target of 12.8% in GHG emissions over the next five years. The plan utilizes a 2018–2022 baseline to ensure a realistic and aggressive reduction pathway, targeting a drop in annual emissions from approx. 120,382 metric tons to 104,974 metric tons by 2030.

The strategy rests on seven scientifically verified measures, including:

• Oxy-Fuel Combustion Technology: Converting Furnace No. 5 to full oxy-fuel combustion, projected to improve thermal efficiency by nearly 30%.
• Renewable Energy Deployment: A three-phase installation of solar power systems across the Hsinchu plant, targeting a total capacity of 1,223 kWp by 2028.
• Waste Heat Recovery: Implementation of ORC (Organic Rankine Cycle) power generation and forehearth waste heat recovery systems to transform industrial exhaust into clean electricity.
• Circular Economy: Increasing the usage of cullet (recycled glass) to over 79,000 tons annually by 2028, significantly lowering the melting energy required for production.

Rigorous Verification and Transparency

The approved plan includes strict, quantifiable Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for every measure.

For instance, the transition of Furnace No. 3 from heavy oil to natural gas and the structural optimization of furnaces are subject to annual efficiency audits.

This transparency ensures that Hwahsia Glass remains accountable to both regulators and its global partners.
